What advice would you give to an Aspiring Dancer and or Choreographer?

What websites, books, movies, tv shows etc would you reccommend also

Thankyou all for your answers^^What advice would you give to an Aspiring Dancer and or Choreographer?
My advice is to see as many live performances as possible. Take as many classes as possible too.

My favorite choreographers are Aszure Barton, Mats Ek, Twyla Tharp, Nathan Trice, Ohad Naharin, Doug Varone, George Balanchine and Jerome Robbins. (Google them on youtube to see their work except for Balanchine.)

They do Contemporary Ballet, Neo-Classical ballet (Balanchine %26amp; Robbins) and Contemporary dance.

My favorite types of dance are Classical Ballet, Neo-classical ballet, Contemporary ballet, and Contemporary dance. What advice would you give to an Aspiring Dancer and or Choreographer?
My advice:

1) Seek out the best training you can find by the best teachers - preferrably ones who had or have professional performing careers. If you're the best at your studio, then the classes aren't challenging enough for you. If you live outside of cities that are major centers for dance, be prepared to move to get the best training possible.

2) Take as many classes as possible - at least 15 hours a week during your high school years, depending on the style. Time spent in technique classes is more important than rehearsal time or practicing at home.

3) Attend summer intensives.

4) Never ';burn bridges'; in the dance world. The dance world is a close-knit community.

5) Your body is your instrument; treat it well: don't smoke, don't use drugs, don't drink in excess, and don't engage in harmful eating practices.

6) A BFA in dance can really help develop your choreography skills.

Recommended media: Dance Spirit magazine for pop styles of dance; Dance Magazine for concert styles of dance. Websites would also depend on the style of dance you are pursuing. Other than that, you really need to attend live performances in your style as much as possible.

I enjoy all types of dance, from hip hop to contemporary ballet, so my favorite choreographers range from Wade Robson, Bob Fosse, Susan Stroman, Matthew Bourne, Ohad Naharin, and Ji艡铆 Kyli谩n.
