I am extremely interested in languages, specifically but definitely not limited to Arabic, Farsi, Albanian, Xhosa. Bengali and all of the Romance languages. I am having doubts about actually pursing a Linguistics major because I often feel that I can major in something safe while I learn about languages on the side. Anyone have any advice?ADVICE?! Do you think a person can really succeed as a Linguistics Major?
God, yes. The US government is willing to pay you big bucks to speak languages like that. If you speak Korean, Mandorin, Cantonese, Farsi, Arabic, etc., you have no excuse to be without a decent paying job. The CIA, FBI, NSA, or some Dept of Homeland Security might be giving you a call.
