I am going to be making a couple of molds from hands in alginate. I plan on pouring in some plaster to make part of a sculpture. I made a test hand earlier but it was filled with holes from air bubbles in the plaster. I tried banging the table to get some out but it didn't work well enough. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips for reducing the amount of bubbles?Do you have any advice for reducing the amount of bubbles in poured plaster?
Use the backside of a vibrating Sander or a massager to place under the mold. It will work beautifully.Do you have any advice for reducing the amount of bubbles in poured plaster?
Stirring rather than beating or whipping so the bubbles don't get in in the first place. Using the right amount of water so the plaster is properly liquid so when you rap the container, the bubbles can move out. In the extreme, using a vacuum chamber to de-air the plaster.
